Seattle, WA – Sept 10, 2019 – Atavus, the leader in football coach education and tackling assessment, announced that University of Oklahoma football has chosen Atavus to provide shoulder-led tackling technique training, game and practice film analysis, and in-season reporting on player, position group, and team performance. The agreement will have Atavus working with Oklahoma coaches and players over three years starting with the 2019 season.
“Raising the standards for our defense includes implementing tackling techniques that increase both player safety and performance,” said Alex Grinch, defensive coordinator at Oklahoma. “Atavus gives us tools to coach a dominant tackle and measure on-field performance, but they also educate us on doing it safely so our best players stay on the field.”
The Atavus Tackle System is built around a shoulder-led technique that is both fundamentally sound and safer. The goal is to consistently make effective contact, and to maximize power and control while reducing unnecessary head contact.
By purchasing Atavus’ flagship product, Tacklytics™, Oklahoma coaches and players will have access to the most comprehensive system available to help educate, train, and measure results on tackling and defensive performance.
“Coach Grinch is committed to creating an elite defense at Oklahoma, but also has the health and safety of his players as the highest priority,” said Rex Norris, vice president of football programming at Atavus. “By sharing our tackling expertise with the Oklahoma’s coaching staff, we will help them save time, reduce risk, and improve performance.”
